Assessment

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:

  1. Intake.  This can happen either by phone or in person. The goal is to gather information on specific concerns and determine areas to assess. The parent collects report cards, student study team (SST) minutes, school reports, previous assessments, and pertinent medical records. The parent completes a secure electronic developmental history form and contract that is emailed to them. Intake usually takes between 30 minutes to an hour.
  2. Testing.  Depending on how the student responds to testing and their stamina, two to six testing appointments may be required, with each lasting one to three hours.
  3. Observation at School.  I go to the student's school to observe them. It’s best if I can observe the student for an hour during their area of most difficulty.  The parent typically sends an introductory email to the school and me to initiate scheduling the observation.
  4. Feedback Meeting.  After testing is done, we write a report to share with the parent at the feedback meeting. During the meeting, I summarize the findings and answer any questions that the parent may have. Then, based on the assessment findings, I talk to the parent about next steps to be taken. This meeting is usually an hour long.
